At Amtico, we know how important it is that our clients can easily choose the right products and then have confidence in their performance. That’s why we’ve worked with RIBA to make sure that everything in our Signature, Spacia, Access, Assura, Marine and First luxury vinyl tile flooring collections is available to download from the NBS National BIM Library.
BIM, or Building Information Modelling, was developed by RIBA as a method of designing all elements of a building digitally. The online NBS National BIM Library holds each manufacturer’s product information as ‘BIM objects’ to enable architects, specifiers and designers to access these and create building plans using BIM software. Everything from floors and ceilings to bricks and concrete are included.
After a building plan has been created, all stakeholders in the construction chain using BIM software can refer to this digital reference for the project’s duration.
Since April 2016, BIM has been mandatory for all government, public sector and national infrastructure projects. Amtico is already part of the RIBA supplier network through NBS Plus and Product Selector, and as the NBS and BIM systems are directly linked, it is now even easier for architects, specifiers and designers to acquire the information needed to accurately specify our vast flooring choice.
One main benefit of BIM is that manufacturer information is held centrally and must be provided in a consistent format, saving time by removing the need for designers to contact manufacturers individually. BIM also greatly improves information quality because manufacturers upload and maintain their own product specifications.
Amtico BIM objects can easily be located within the NBS National BIM Library by typing ‘Amtico’ into the main search bar or selecting ‘Floor Finishes’ from the ‘Find BIM objects’ drop-down menu. They can then be downloaded for use within the Revit and IFC software platforms.
