We introduced this contemporary trio of Chroma LVT flooring products to our Signature collection in June 2016, but our creative work started a long time before then. Our in-house design team spend their days seeking out new trends, researching material effects, and experimenting with print and production techniques to bring truly innovative flooring to our collections, and to our customers.
Our Senior Designer, Kelly Alders, describes how the team translated a trend for textured metals – seen in furniture, fashion and interior architecture – into flooring.
Chroma is inspired by the mixing of metallic pigments. We researched metallic effects, ceramic glazes and decorative rust finishes to look at how pigments merge and disperse to create movement in tone and texture. We used hand-drawn surface pattern techniques to create the intensely detailed designs before capturing these qualities with printing techniques.
The result is Chroma, which smoulders with dark, smoky textures to bring striking depth to any floor. Chroma Black is sophisticated with a deep warm black base and silvery highlights. Chroma Gold has a warm gold tone enhanced by highlights of deep bronze and subtle pink. And with Chroma Blue, the product’s golden-silver base has soft rose-gold hints, inky blacks and lapis blue features.
Dark, moody and mysterious is the theme for our Black Out trend that you can read about in the new Uniquely Amtico brochure where we highlight how black is perfect for drawing the eye into a room and creating a luxurious feel. As shown here, the deep tones of Chroma Black are enhanced when the tile is laid in a Block Weave pattern, with two tile sizes in contrasting directions. The bold graphic texture and dramatic metallic finish really stand out in this design.
You can download or order a copy of the Uniquely Amtico brochure online and read more about Chroma and the many other new Signature products introduced this year. You can also try Chroma in different virtual room sets around the home with our easy to use online Room Visualiser, simply select a room, choose your Chroma product and see how it looks as a flooring design.
