Above: Amtico’s designers created this sleek and inviting kitchen floor design by combining Umbra Eclipse with Basilica Shell stripping – the edge detail surrounding each tile – in a Random Stone laying pattern. Swirls of pattern drift across the Umbra tiles for a dusky, chic and seamless finish.
At Amtico, we’re dedicated to original design. We develop truly innovative LVT products that help our customers to create flooring for their homes that’s beautiful and original. To do this, our in-house design team travel the globe to find inspiration and stay ahead of the trends. Umbra, which we introduced to our Signature collection in June 2016, is a true reflection of these inspirational travels.
Here to tell you a bit about Umbra is Karen Quarterman, Amtico’s Design Manager.
Umbra is original – no two tiles are the same. With its effortless linear appearance, Umbra experiments with movement and flow to create a non-repeating pattern.
When working through creative ideas for Umbra, the design team explored how light, shadows, fabric and liquids blend together to give this product its dynamic, layered effect that flows easily, whether you choose tiles or planks.
Umbra’s monochromatic tones help to create three highly useable grey colourways – Umbra Eclipse, Umbra Dusk and Umbra Veil. They give a beautiful balance of warm and cool tones to suit different spaces within a home.
Umbra sits within Signature’s Abstract palette and provides choice across three colourways. Umbra Eclipse, as shown in the modern kitchen design above, offers the deepest tone, featuring dramatic smoke blue and rich blacks. With Umbra Dusk, the overall look is that of a mid-grey tone, but one that cleverly balances both warm and cool greys. And providing the lightest tonal choice is Umbra Veil with its soft flow of cool pale blue and warm dove grey.
You can try Umbra in different virtual rooms sets around the home with our easy to use online Room Visualiser. Just choose a room, select your Umbra product and see how it looks as a flooring design.
