Amtico brings you the latest trends for 2018

posted: November 2017

With 2018 on the horizon we have been looking at interior trends for the year ahead and questioning what will be BIG news for the interiors scene. A few of the interior trends from 2017 will stay with us throughout 2018 – the love of grey, large botanical plants and moody darks.

However, there are also a few trends that are shining through that we’d like to share with you...

This is a trend that we’re really excited about!  It’s about making our homes as comfortable and relaxing as they can possibly be.  Warm, cosy interiors with luxurious textures like cashmere, wool, sheepskins and fur. Think squidgy sofas, over-sized, feather-filled cushions and curvaceous lines.

Lauren Levy, Product Design Manager at Amtico, explains, "Colour is all consuming for us. In 2018 we see a focus on a ‘mature’ palette – more diffused pastel shades, less ‘colour pop’ brights. Along with this texture, embosses and surfaces adds depth and realism."

Amtico flooring can add to the cosiness of this up-coming trend with planks and tiles that are warm underfoot, try Amtico Form Drift Oak in Stripwood laying pattern.

Classic Design

During 2017 we travelled to many interior exhibitions, some in the UK and some further afield, but one trend was clear…classic design was back! Brands were showcasing investment, hero pieces of furniture and lights that took us back to the vintage era of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Mix these statement pieces with a traditional patterned floor, such as Amtico’s Designers’ Choice DC215, Script Maple Silver in Pleat laying pattern.

Earthy Colours

Whilst the trend for all-things-dark is still very much en-vogue, we saw a more calming colour palette sneaking through.  Muted greens and pinks mixed with mustard tones and shades of mushroom were splashed on walls, sofas and bedding.

As Amtico’s Senior Product Designer, Kelly Alders, describes “We will be looking at lighter, fresher colour tones in 2018, driven by an increasing interest in well-being.” These colours add a warmth and sophistication to interiors that only nature can usually do.   We have teamed Amtico Form, Rural Oak in Parquet laying pattern to bring these on-trend colours together.
