Blending Tradition and Modernity
Restoring Miller’s House with Amtico Flooring
Set within the scenic beauty of the Tamar Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Miller’s House is a Grade II-listed property lovingly cared for by the National Trust. Once home to the miller who worked the nearby Victorian watermill on the Cotehele Estate in Cornwall, the property has been sensitively restored into a warm and welcoming holiday cottage.

To complement the cottage’s past and enhance its interiors with a practical, design-led finish, flooring from the Amtico Décor x National Trust collection was chosen. This unique collaboration brings together a legacy-inspired series with the durability and ease needed for modern living, making it the perfect choice for a popular holiday let in such a stunning location.
Time-Honoured Design, Hardwearing Finish
Cotehele is steeped in centuries of tradition, and Miller’s House reflects that heritage through its thick stone walls, deep-set windows, and timeless rustic character. Yet, as a home intended to welcome guests throughout the year, every detail must balance authenticity with durability. This classic range from Amtico Décor flooring achieves just that, referencing an age-old aesthetic while delivering the resilient qualities of luxury vinyl tiles.
The flooring is the Wow factor, completing the traditional look and sitting comfortably in its surroundings. As a dog friendly cottage, the hard wearing and high quality of this beautiful flooring will serve us well for years to come.
Flooring with Purpose and Personality
In the kitchen, dining, and living areas, the team opted for Venetian Parquet Hemlock, a warm, oak-toned LVT that combines the richness of traditional wood with a refined, contemporary Parquet laying pattern. Inspired by intricate patternwork from period fabrics, it brings quiet elegance and gentle movement to the heart of the home.
Upstairs, the bathrooms feature Corinthian Cornice, a geometric stone pattern in calming neutral tones. The laying pattern offers subtle structure and visual interest, complementing traditional features, while providing a clean, modern foundation.
