Amtico Décor: showcase a feature design

The demands of commercial flooring are both extensive and diverse, often requiring solutions that accommodate large, multi-functional spaces. While using flooring to flood expansive spaces can meet certain practical needs, the refined detail of Amtico Décor introduces character and visual interest, elevating the space with distinctive design features and a beautifully considered finish.

Zoning with Décor

Zoning is a design technique that defines distinct areas within a space through the strategic use of different flooring finishes. Widely used by designers, this approach enhances the overall user experience by adding visual interest and improving spatial organisation. Beyond aesthetics, floor zoning provides clear cues about how different areas within a larger environment are intended to be used.

The extensive range of artisan designs offered by Amtico Décor makes it an ideal choice for effective zoning within a space. With a versatile selection of colour palettes, from subtle neutrals to bold, vibrant tones, it seamlessly complements the wider interior scheme and integrates beautifully with other flooring finishes.

When tasked with NFU Mutual’s office refurbishment, D3 Design selected DC294 Classic Argent from Amtico Décor to work cohesively with the neutral finish of Wilmcote Limestone. This zoned area draws attention to the central section of the new deli bar while enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.

Zoning offers several benefits, including:

  • Clearly defined areas in large, commercial spaces

  • Adding points of interest to reflect behaviours in specific areas

  • Enhanced user experience with a clearer understanding of their environment

Add a touch of luxury

Amtico Décor can provide the perfect finishing touch to hospitality spaces, particularly in bars and restaurants as a bar skirt. It can offer a traditional looking finish with designs inspired by Victorian tiles, or a more contemporary aesthetic to showcase the bar area with a luxurious design.

Amtico Décor offers the same premium performance as Amtico Signature, meaning that it has a commercial warranty of 20-years and provides a 1.0mm wear layer, making it an ideal choice for busy commercial environments with high footfall.

The Oche Club, designed by Axis Mason, is a stunning example of Amtico Décor applied as a bar skirt. DC490 Geo Adelphi, with its cool palette and geometric pattern has been used alongside Bordeaux Oak, to create a traditional feel but is in keeping with the overall modern feel of the space. It is a beautiful example of adding a touch of luxury to commercial environments.

Axis Mason uses a similar scheme in The Mulcaster & 1823 Grill; the use of DC623 Classic Aquamarine showcases a more traditional finish. Its intricate design is reminiscent of classic Victorian tiling and complements the overall look and feel of the space.

Make a design feature

Amtico Décor offers a versatile way to introduce feature areas within a commercial design. Whether through inlaid rug-style zones, transitional pathways, perimeter framing, or decorative motifs, these patterned elements add visual interest and depth. Thoughtfully integrated, they help define spaces, guide movement, and enhance the overall character of the interior.

The Funky Monk, designed by Space ID, incorporates DC456 Echo Keys in corridors as a transitional pathway between the apartment areas, helping to clearly define spaces as well as adding an impactful feature area for guests to enjoy.

With contrasting black and white tiles in a geometric pattern, it creates a bold and beautiful flooring, perfect for a stylish aesthetic.

When developing the collection, Amtico’s in-house designers considered how the designs could be used as feature areas.

This example shows DC621 Corinthian Capitol as a rug feature in a complementary field, helping to elevate the large space and inject additional character to the environment.
